I know Halloween isn’t even here yet, but this is the view from my back deck today. My neck of the woods (or swampish pond) got snow on Sunday, and it doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to melt. 😦
But it has made me want to start listening to Christmas music and take the pumpkins off my front porch. Ha ha.
Maria Hoagland gave me an ARC of her new Christmas romance to read a couple weeks ago, and I thought it was way too soon for Christmas. But now I don’t. Funny how the weather can change my mind so easily.
Anyway, here are my holiday thoughts on Santa Cam.
If only a little Christmas magic could solve all their problems . . .
All professional soccer player Camden Sharpe wants for Christmas is to get home to Cobble Creek, Wyoming, for snow and family time. But when a brawl video surfaces online, Cam is forced to stay in Texas to clean up the public relations mess if he ever wants to get off the fans’ Naughty List. His manager-imposed community service lands Camden in a Santa suit surrounded by little kids with long lists of demands, but his attention is on his pretty elf assistant. He’s sure he’s seen her somewhere before, and he’s not convinced it was all that good.
Talia Thomas hopes Santa doesn’t recognize her. A lot of things in her life have changed since they butted heads a while back—including the trajectory of her career—and he has no idea he was the one who changed everything. Once a network reporter, Talia now runs MyHeartChannel Talia’s Truth Cam, but views are falling, advertisers are disappearing, and Talia’s excitement for her stories has frozen over. She’s tired of depressing news and shattered hearts, but it’s her job to tell the truth.
As Talia and Cam set out on a mission to convince the other the see the good in the world around them, they soon discover that only looking for the good sometimes means missing the truth that was right in front of them. Can Camden and Talia ever trust each other enough to move on from the mistakes of their past?
This holiday romance should be made into a movie and put on Hallmark channel. It fit the bill for that genre. Camdon Sharpe is a professional soccer player in Texas, and one troubling moment lands him and his team in the hot seat at Christmas time, and they aren’t allowed to go home until they get some positive press. Enter Talia Thomas, a reporter with her own MyHeartChannel, trying to get the scoop on the truth. She plays elf to Cam’s Santa at a charity event. He’s trying to win back support for his team and reputation; she’s trying to figure out if the charity is legit or not. They hit it off, but Talia soon realizes they’ve met before, back in Seattle, under not-so-good circumstances. She hopes he doesn’t remember, because she’s really starting to like him now.
Anyway, to cut to the short of it, Cam and Talia have sparks, but they have a lot to overcome if their relationship is ever to become more than dying embers of coal. This was a feel-good romance that was a fast read with delightful characters that really brought the spirit of Christmas to life. Highly recommend for a holiday pick-me-up.

Have a happy Halloween…or early Christmas if you’re shoveling snow. 🙂
