Wrong For You

Wrongfor You BT bannerI went to a writing conference this past weekend and met a lot of my favorite authors. Jenny Proctor, author of Wrong For You, taught one of the classes. She’s a sweetheart from North Dakota, and I might have grinned all during class because I was so happy to be learning from some pros. Her new book was awesome, so let me tell you about it.

Book Blurb

Lane Bishop is a hardworking, intelligent, beautiful young woman. And with her recent move to Chapel Hill, she is determined to leave behind the drama and effort of keeping up with the dating scene. Even so, Lane somehow manages to get dragged out by a gaggle of girls to watch a bunch of guys play soccer. But just watching is not Lane’s forte, so she joins in the fun and leads her team to victory. Rather than feeling intimidated by the vivacious beauty on the opposing team, Jamie Hamilton is intrigued. Risking his “untouchable” dating status, he decides to pursue Lane—with a little help from his older brother Simon. With Simon’s behind-the-scenes assistance, Jamie proves irresistible, even to a disillusioned dater like Lane. But as she gets to know both brothers, Lane can’t help but wonder—beneath the grand gestures and romantic words, is she falling for the wrong guy?

My Review

This contemporary clean romance has a subtle love triangle that has three amazing characters in it. I loved each of them, which made it hard to know who to cheer for—so I just cheered for all three. Lane Bishop moves to her grandmother’s hometown. When she jumps into a pick-up game of soccer and meets three brothers, she’s attracted to the oldest brother, Simon. But when she learns he’s unavailable because he has a long-distance girlfriend, she goes after his younger brother, Jamie. Jamie is intrigued by the confident soccer playing girl who beats him. Seeking his older brother’s help to figure out what Lane loves, he works his way into her heart. But Lane sometimes wonders if she’s falling in love with the wrong brother.

5 DecadentI really liked this story. It’s right up there with Love at First Note (her other favorite of mine). It’s well written and flows flawlessly. The characters are so cool and diverse. Lane is a half-black/Puerto Rican, vivacious, strong willed college soccer superstar. The Hamilton brothers–labeled the “untouchables”–are so funny as they group text each other through this story. I loved the interaction between them. This love triangle tugged my heart all over the place. It was super well done. I loved the witty dialogue and prose. If you’re looking for a  delicious book to savor, this one will make you smile. I rated it 5 all across the board. You can’t go wrong with this one.
