Mine, mine, mine!

I’m super excited to announce the release of Taylor Dean’s new book, Girl of Mine. Taylor’s a super fun author friend of mine. I beta-read this book and LOVED it! She’s a great writer. I’ve read all her books and love the unique stories she creates.

It’s a fast-paced read that switches back and forth between present day and past and between love and heartache. The story starts out with desperate action as Luke kidnaps his ex-fiancée in order to explain choices he made that he sincerely regrets. Jill doesn’t know if she can ever forgive him for breaking her heart…and besides, she’s now engaged to another man, Troy’s best friend. Luke and Troy have been best friends since they were in diapers. A tragedy in their youth changed both of their lives, leaving one bitter and the other filled with guilt. The characters in this romantic saga are well-developed—even the villain will Continue reading

New Biblical Fiction by H.B. Moore

Moses has always felt like an outsider in his powerful Egyptian family, even though his close relationship with Ramses, the prince of Egypt, and their cousin Pentu keeps him entwined in the dealings of royalty. But when their youthful antics get them in trouble, the Pharaoh decides it’s time for all three of them to grow up and own their respective responsibilities. Now betrothed to a woman he cares nothing for, Moses wonders where his life is headed.

Miriam, a Hebrew slave, lives with a secret she cannot share with anyone. And though it has been eighteen years since she saved her baby brother, she is constantly getting in trouble for spying on him. In a desperate attempt to control Miriam, her older brother, Aaron, and her father look to find her a husband, something Miriam has never been interested in—until Caleb, a young, handsome man, confesses his feelings for her and asks her father for her hand in marriage.

When Libya advances on Egypt, Moses and Miriam are suddenly thrown together as the Egyptian royals and soldiers flee. Hebrew slaves are forced to defend the kingdom, and Miriam and Caleb are enlisted under Moses’s direction. Moses quickly sees there is more to this downtrodden people than what he’s been taught. When he witnesses the atrocities enacted against the slaves, he realizes he must leave—he must find out who he really is.

A gripping account of the events that led to Moses’s flight into the wilderness, The Moses Chronicles: Bondage will take you back back to a rich period of history replete with scandal, strife, love, and hope as God prepares a prophet to lead His chosen people.

My Review

I love Heather Moore’s Bible stories. She makes the characters and simple scriptural verses come alive through her storytelling. This is the first installment in Moses’s life, and I found it completely fascinating. The characters described above as well as Moses’ Egyptian mother (the daughter of Pharoah), Bithia, became so real to me and Moore made the few clues from the Bible make sense of possible reasons why Moses would have fled Egypt after killing a taskmaster and what his life might have been like in the royal court before he learned of his Hebrew heritage. I couldn’t put this down…it was extremely good!

Amazing Spring Reads

DSC03185 Spring is here! I’ve been enjoying it to the fullest by walking around my yard everyday to see what new color iris blooms will surprise me. I’ve also been busily working on my new book (which is tentatively titled “Giving up Hope”…but that could definitely change over time). And last, but not least, I’ve been reading.

One author that has become one of my new favorites is Jennifer Peel. I’ve mentioned her before after reading House Divided, but I’ve now finished all her works and loved every single one. I thought I’d spotlight each and interview her so you can Continue reading
